The state budget for 2016 was approved

The Left wing parties have approved the state budget for 2016 on Wednesday, after two weeks of discussion and several amendments (136).

The budget was approved with the favor votes of PS, BE, PCP and PEV and vote against PSD and CDS-PP. The only member of PAN, André Silva, chose to abstain, despite the inclusion of six proposals in the final diploma.

The President of the Republic, Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa, will receive the final draft during the next week to enact the budget. It is expected that the Head of State will address the nation on the degree of the Government PS, which will enter into force on 1 April.

The Finance Minister, Mário Centeno, reaffirmed "the intention of maintaining balanced public accounts" and set the bar in the deficit to 2.2% for 2016. The public debt is projected at 127%.
